Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the meeting involving the Heads of Central Asian states and the Chancellor of Germany.
Addressing those present the Head of State expressed gratitude to Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz and the leaders of Central Asian countries for their participation and support of the regional cooperation. The President said the high-level dialogue launched last September in Berlin has become regular.
He said the meeting is called not only to sum up the results of joint activities but also to outline new ways for further deepening of cooperation. Today’s meeting focuses on key issues concerning trade, investments, energy, ecology, transport and logistics, science and education. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed confidence that constructive discussions will result in certain decisions to benefit all countries.
The President said today’s meeting opens a new page in the history of multilateral cooperation in the Central Asia – Germany format.
He stressed Kazakhstan strictly follows the Successful Central Asia - Successful Kazakhstan formula, and strives to expand cooperation within Central Asia plus format. That's why large-scale partnership with Germany, one of the most developed countries in the world and the largest economy in the European Union, is a priority for Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
Besides, the Head of State presented his vision of key directions for further cooperation.
The first is to increase commodity turnover. The priority task is to increase trade due to the efficient development of joint regional projects. For example, Kazakhstan is ready to boost exports of 100 goods items worth 850 million US dollars to Germany, the Head of State said.
Then he prioritized energy cooperation adding that Kazakhstan as one of the reliable and largest energy resources suppliers is ready to bolster oil exports to Germany. He also expressed readiness to establish mutually beneficial cooperation in the development of a hydrogen economy.
Earlier was reported that the Presidents of Central Asian countries and Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz arrived at the Independence Palace in Astana for the second Summit Central Asia – Germany, during which strategic cooperation and partnership in a wide range of areas, including trade and economic interaction and realization of joint investment projects, were set to be discussed.

As was previously reported, Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov welcomed Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz, who had arrived in Kazakhstan upon the Kazakh President’s invitation, at the airport in Astana.

At today’s meeting in the Central Asia – Germany format the Head of State focused on green transition and water resources preservation issues.
The President said Germany for many years has been a reliable partner of Central Asian countries in climate change mitigation, environmental improvement and raising efficient of the water and energy sector.
Kazakhstan as the current chairman of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea suggests intensifying partnership on the implementation of projects within the framework of the Aral Sea Basin Assistance Program and the Regional Environmental Protection Program for Sustainable Development of Central Asia. The Fund activities are of fundamental importance for ensuring sustainable development and prosperity of our region. The initiative to create a Regional Center for Sustainable Agriculture gains ground. I hope that this initiative will be supported at today’s meeting, the Head of State said.
As stated there, another key task is the development of scientific and educational ties. The Kazakh President invited scientific and educational circles of Germany to expand cooperation in promising spheres such as AI, digitalization and green technologies.
