The meeting was attended by President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov.
The head of our state noted that the Collective Security Treaty Organization has become one of the key structures in ensuring peace and stability in the Eurasian space.
- In the context of modern challenges, the CSTO has consistently demonstrated its relevance as a guarantor of security for all participating countries. Our coordinated actions, mutual trust and support strengthen our collective ability to solve the most complex and large-scale tasks. It is important to emphasize that the CSTO is not just a military partnership, it is a unique mechanism that unites our efforts and resources to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our states, - said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The President reported that as the CSTO Chairman, Kazakhstan focused its efforts on strengthening close cooperation between the member countries and increasing the effectiveness of mechanisms for rapid response to crisis situations. Particular attention was paid to developing the Organization's capabilities in combating modern threats, including terrorism, cyberattacks, transnational crime and drug trafficking.
- Meetings of the statutory bodies, military exercises and preventive operations of the CSTO were held as planned. Current issues of collective security were considered in detail by the ministers of foreign affairs and defense. Meetings were held at the level of secretaries of the Security Councils and heads of parliaments. Meetings of the subsidiary and working bodies of the Organization were held, a series of consultations on various areas of CSTO activity took place. A number of significant documents were adopted during the intersessional period. They cover issues of international cooperation in the defense sphere, as well as countering current challenges and threats to collective security. Special attention was paid to preparations for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Today, we will be presented with a corresponding statement of the Collective Security Council. In general, all the tasks that were set during the chairmanship of the Republic of Kazakhstan have been fulfilled. Let me express my deep gratitude for the support in the implementation of our priorities and fruitful joint work, - the head of state said.
During the event, current issues of international and regional security were discussed. In addition, the results of the Republic of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the CSTO in 2024 were summed up and plans for the upcoming period were defined.
