President has held a meeting with the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has held a meeting with the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Mishustin.

As reported, Mishustin arrived in Astana to participate in the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council and Digital Almaty 2025 Forum.

The sides discussed the prospects for the development of the Kazakh-Russian strategic partnership, giving special attention to strengthening the trade-economic, investment cooperation, including within the Eurasian Economic Union.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highly praised personal contribution of Mikhail Mishustin to strengthening the ties of friendship and good-neighborly relations between the countries and pointed out the importance of implementation of the agreements reached during the state visit of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, to Astana on November 27.

“The relations between our countries are on the rise and encompass almost all spheres of cooperation. We consider your visit to Astana as an important stage of implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level. During Vladimir Putin’s visit to Kazakhstan, the regional forum in Ufa was held successfully. This year we plan to hold another regular forum in the territory of Kazakhstan, in Uralsk. I believe that this format of cooperation will yield useful results,” the President highlighted.

In turn, Mikhail Mishustin stated Russian side’s readiness for implementation of the tasks set by the two countries’ presidents.

“The forum of regions is very important for us. The regions of Russia directly interact with many regions of Kazakhstan,” he said adding that the Russian side would provide comprehensive support to this format to raise its efficiency.

“Kazakhstan is our closest neighbor and ally. Our relations are built on the principles of friendship and mutual respect,” the Chairman of the Russian Government said.

Mikhail Mishustin informed Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of the outcomes of the talks of governmental delegations of Kazakhstan and Russia. He emphasized that the agreements reached across the entire range of the bilateral agenda, would contribute to enhancing the mutually beneficial cooperation.

Particular attention was given to further implementation of joint projects in energy, industry, transport infrastructure, agriculture and other spheres.

The parties also discussed the pressing issues of scientific-technical and cultural-humanitarian interaction.

The Head of State said that he accepted the Russian President’s invitation to attend the events dedicated to the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Great Victory.

Earlier, it was reported that Kazakhstan intends to boost exports of wheat and other agricultural projects to Europe through the territory of Russia.
