A meeting of the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the development of the transport and logistics industry was held under the chairmanship of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Reports were heard from the Minister of Transport Marat Karabaev and a number of heads of central government bodies.
In his speech, the head of state criticized the situation in the transport sector, the modernization of which is being held back as a result of systemic problems and the failure to implement plans.
The President noted the difficulties with the passage of goods at the border, the unsatisfactory condition of many checkpoints, and the delays in major infrastructure transit projects.Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the importance of organizing "green corridors" and using the logistical advantages of our country. According to him, in the context of global challenges, Kazakhstan should not only maintain but also strengthen its competitive advantages.The head of state stated the need to saturate the market with aviation fuel to increase cargo transportation.In addition, in his speech, the task was set to increase the volume of transit transportation as one of the necessary steps to obtain a multiplier effect, including through the introduction of global supply chains.
Following the meeting, the President reprimanded Minister Marat Karabayev for his shortcomings in his work.The head of state demanded that effective measures be taken to resolve the problems of the transport and logistics industry.
