President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev warmly welcomed Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping to Akorda.
As the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan emphasized, the Chairman of the People's Republic of China always remains a particularly respected guest on Kazakh soil, and his visit is a clear indication of the sincere and unwavering friendship between the two countries.
- The People's Republic of China is a good neighbor, close friend and reliable partner of Kazakhstan. Thanks to your personal support, Kazakh-Chinese cooperation is developing at an unprecedented pace in the spirit of a comprehensive and eternal strategic partnership. If you carefully study our common history, you can see that relations between our countries have always been built on friendship and cooperation, without any conflicts or obstacles. They have always been distinguished by mutual understanding and goodwill. The Chinese people have never harmed the Kazakh people, - the President of Kazakhstan noted.
The head of state said that bilateral relations have reached a new “golden period,” making a significant contribution to sustainable socio-economic development and the well-being of the peoples of the two countries.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev particularly noted the symbolism of the visit of the Chairman of the PRC, which coincided with his birthday, and wished him good health, prosperity and new achievements in his state activities.
- In Kazakhstan, you are known as a great statesman, a wise leader with great authority in the international community. The progressive development of your country is inextricably linked with your name. I am convinced that under your strong and authoritative leadership, the People's Republic of China will reach new heights in socio-economic modernization and further improvement of the well-being of citizens. We sincerely rejoice at your tremendous success in building socialism with Chinese characteristics in a new historical era. I highly appreciate your kind attitude towards me personally and towards all the people of Kazakhstan, - the President said.
The head of state called China a good neighbor and a time-tested reliable strategic partner of Kazakhstan. According to him, relations between our countries are of a steadily stable nature and are not subject to the negative influence of geopolitical challenges and shocks, as well as the international situation.
- China never sets any political conditions in cooperation with Kazakhstan. We appreciate your continued support for our sovereignty and security guarantees. We support China's peace-loving initiatives and highly appreciate the key role of your country in building a fair world order, - added Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
He further noted the high level of interaction between the two countries within the framework of international and regional organizations, including the UN, SCO, CICA, BRICS+ and the Central Asia – China format.
The President recalled that China is Kazakhstan's largest trade and economic partner. According to the results of last year, the volume of bilateral trade reached a record 44 billion dollars.
The head of state also mentioned progress in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, including the opening of cultural centers, Lu Ban workshops, branches of Chinese universities and scientific and technical centers. He said that Kazakhstan will support the activities of Confucius centers. 2025 has been declared the Year of China Tourism in Kazakhstan, which will help strengthen mutual trust and deepen bilateral cooperation.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev specifically addressed the issue of cooperation in the field of nuclear energy.
- We have decided to build several, at least two or three, NPPs in Kazakhstan. The corresponding work is underway to involve large companies in this important project. The Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Atomic Energy has been created. I would like to especially note that we consider the Chinese company CNNC as a reliable strategic partner in the NPP construction project. CNNC is known worldwide for its high competence, so it will certainly occupy a worthy niche in our market. In addition, Kazakhstan is a reliable supplier of natural uranium and nuclear fuel to China, - he said.
In turn, Xi Jinping expressed gratitude to the President for the warm welcome on Kazakh soil. He noted that under the leadership of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kazakhstan has embarked on the path of national revival and continues to achieve new achievements in its development.
– As good neighbors and strategic partners, we sincerely admire your achievements and are happy for you. Relations between China and Kazakhstan have stood the test of the changing global situation and continue to develop dynamically. This became possible not only due to geographical proximity and centuries-old friendship, but also due to the natural need for joint development of our countries. In recent years, thanks to our joint efforts, the community of common destiny of China and Kazakhstan has been constantly enriched with new content. The fruitful implementation of a number of socially significant projects brings tangible benefits to the peoples of the two countries. I am ready to work with you to steadily strengthen the friendship between China and Kazakhstan, hand in hand promote our multifaceted cooperation so that Chinese-Kazakh relations make an even greater contribution to the development of the region and the world as a whole, – said the Chairman of the PRC.
During the talks, a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed. The conversation took place in the spirit of traditional friendship, mutual respect and openness, Akorda noted.
