
The head of state held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Islamic World League (IWL) Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Isa, who arrived in Astana to participate in the VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.
The President expressed gratitude to the head of the VIL for his continued support of our country's initiatives to develop interreligious dialogue and significant contribution to the promotion of ideas of peace and harmony. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that issues of preserving interreligious and intercultural harmony occupy a special place in Kazakhstan's domestic and foreign policy.
According to him, this is also evidenced by the holding of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions for 22 years. As the Head of State said, this forum is aimed at uniting efforts in the name of strengthening global security and stability.
In addition, the President expressed confidence in the further strengthening of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia.
The Secretary General of the VIL highly appreciated the Congress traditionally held in Astana as a unique platform for exchanging opinions and promoting universal values. He wished our country well-being and prosperity. For his significant contribution to strengthening interfaith harmony in the world and popularizing Islamic civilization, the Head of State awarded Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Isa the Order of Dostyk, 1st degree.
