Head of Qarmet presented the company's development plan to President

The head of state received Andrey Lavrentyev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qarmet.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was presented with the company's preliminary performance results for 2025 and the main areas of investment program implementation. Positive trends were noted: over two years, steel production increased by 22%, coal concentrate production by 26%, and iron ore production by 32%. Production costs were reduced by 28%, and the number of steel grades produced increased from 260 to 350.

Andrey Lavrentyev reported on the implementation of nine major investment projects aimed at building the country's "steel framework" and reducing rolled metal imports. Furthermore, production of new premium steel grades is expanding, including products for the construction of nuclear power plants.

The President was presented with development programs for the coal and mining sectors. Special emphasis was placed on occupational safety and social initiatives. Qarmet is upgrading its medical and educational facilities. The company and trade unions signed a new collective agreement providing for expanded social benefits for its 35,000-strong workforce.

The head of state was informed about the formation of a large metallurgical cluster around Qarmet, which provides small and medium-sized enterprises with the opportunity to deeply process raw materials. The program was initiated jointly with the Baiterek National Investment Holding. Systematic work is also underway with machine-building plants to utilize Kazakhstani steel in production.

Following the meeting, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev praised the work carried out and supported the presented development plan for Qarmet. He emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to comprehensively modernize the enterprise, address social issues, improve the environmental situation, and expand mechanical engineering production.
