The ceremony of presenting credentials to the President of Kazakhstan by the Ambassador of the United States of America Julie Stufft and the Ambassador of Bulgaria Georgi Vodenski took place at the Akorda residence.
Addressing the Bulgarian Ambassador, the Head of State conveyed greetings to President Rumen Radev, noting that his visit to Kazakhstan last year gave significant impetus to the development of bilateral relations.
"We are interested in further cooperation with your wonderful country. We will do everything possible to expand the scope of our cooperation in both the political and economic spheres," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Speaking about Kazakh-American relations, the President of Kazakhstan reminded Julie Stafft of the significance and success of his visit to the United States last November.
"We had a friendly and at the same time substantive conversation with President Donald Trump. We recently held a productive telephone conversation on many issues related to our bilateral cooperation. I am grateful for the invitation to participate in the G20 summit, which will be held later this year in the United States. We will do everything possible to maintain and strengthen our strategic partnership in many areas," the Head of State stated.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated the ambassadors on the official start of their diplomatic missions and conveyed his best wishes to the heads of state.
US Ambassador Julie Stufft later commented that she was pleased to present her credentials to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev today. It was a great honor and a great pleasure for her to be in Kazakhstan.
"The United States of America and Kazakhstan have a very long-standing relationship. The United States was the first country to recognize Kazakhstan's independence, and today our partnership is stronger than ever. Our relations are now at their highest level ever," she said.
According to her, Presidents Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Donald Trump maintain a very close relationship and communicate regularly. President Tokayev visited Washington in November, recently spoke with President Trump again, and will visit the United States again in the coming period.
"As I already noted, Presidents Tokayev and Trump are in constant contact and maintain a trusting dialogue. They will meet again soon and continue their communication. I just met with President Tokayev, during which we discussed our priorities in our bilateral relations. I know that we have President Trump's full support in this regard, and I am very excited about expanding our cooperation with the support of both leaders. This was a very substantive and positive meeting with President Tokayev and his team. Yesterday, I also held talks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and we have much work ahead," she added.
