
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Elvira Azimova, Chairperson of the Constitutional Commission and Chairperson of the Constitutional Court; Yerlan Karin, Deputy Chairperson of the Constitutional Commission and State Counselor; and Yerzhan Zhienbayev, member of the Constitutional Commission and Assistant to the President for Legal Affairs.
The head of state was informed about the Commission's ongoing work on the draft of the country's new Constitution.
Elvira Azimova reported that over 4,000 public responses to the draft new Constitution, published for public review on the eGov and e-Otinish portals, have been received. In their submissions, citizens express support for the draft, noting that it is in line with modern realities and reflects the interests of society. Political parties, republican and regional public associations have also expressed support for the adoption of the new Constitution.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that the Constitutional Commission's work should continue in an open format, allowing citizens to stay informed about the ongoing discussions and become more familiar with the contents of the draft new Constitution.
The head of state instructed that all proposals received from the expert community and citizens continue to be carefully analyzed.
Elvira Azimova also announced that members of the Constitutional Commission will continue their work on revisions to individual articles and clauses of the new Constitution. The Commission plans to hold regular meetings tomorrow, February 7, and next week.
