
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Mohammed Abdelsalam, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Elders and the Sheikh Zayed Award for Human Fraternity.
During the meeting, the Head of State expressed support for the important initiatives and projects being implemented in our country under the auspices of the Muslim Council of Elders, an authoritative and influential institution recognized internationally.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the paramount importance of establishing the principles of tolerance and peaceful coexistence, as well as promoting the humanistic values of Islam. He stated that this position is consistent with Kazakhstan's political course.
The President said that he was very pleased with the opening of the Council’s first representative office in Central Asia in our country.
The head of state said that the Sheikh Zayed Award for Human Fraternity is considered one of the most prestigious international awards, designed to promote the ideals of unity and responsibility. He also noted its contribution to the development of global dialogue and cooperation.
In turn, Mohammed Abdelsalam expressed gratitude to the Head of State for the warm welcome. He confirmed his intention to continue his active participation in the congresses of leaders of world and traditional religions held in Astana.
The Secretary-General praised Kazakhstan's efforts to promote a peaceful settlement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, whose leaders were awarded the Sheikh Zayed Award for Human Fraternity this year.
In conclusion, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev conveyed his greetings to the President of the Council, Supreme Imam of Al-Azhar University Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb.
By decree of the President of Kazakhstan, Mohammed Abdelsalam was awarded the Order of Dostyk, 1st degree, for his significant contribution to the development of interreligious dialogue and the affirmation of humanitarian values.
