In his address, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the significance of today's event for the country, where participants are discussing the tasks of maslikhats (local councils) in implementing a range of political and economic reforms, as well as modernizing the public administration system.
"As you know, Kazakhstan is undergoing large-scale, historic transformations. All of these transformations are being carried out in the name of improving the well-being of the people. We have embarked on a profound modernization of the public administration system, the economy, and the social sphere. And in this process, the maslikhats (councils) have a special mission. Strengthening representative bodies of power remains a key priority of state policy. Significant work has been accomplished to date. In accordance with the principle of 'Strong Regions – Strong Country,' we have enhanced the authority of the maslikhats. Thanks to this, these structures have already become one of the key institutions of our state. However, to further strengthen the potential of the maslikhats, we still have many challenges to overcome," emphasized Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
