Head of State received the akim of the Abay region

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was presented with a report on the socio-economic development results of the Abay region for 2025 and the indicators for the first four months of this year.

According to Berik Uali, last year the gross regional product reached 3.9 trillion tenge. For January-April of this year, the short-term economic indicator was 103.8%. Investment volume increased by 19.4%, with positive dynamics continuing in industry, manufacturing, agriculture, construction, and transportation.

The head of state was briefed on efforts to attract investment. Since last year, the number of projects included in the general investment pool has increased from 29 to 112. The volume of attracted investment has grown from 2.2 trillion to 4.4 trillion tenge. Major investment projects include the construction of the Ayagoz-Bakhty railway line, costing 577.5 billion tenge. Construction of a new thermal power plant (TPP) in Semey, with investment totaling 714 billion tenge, and a mining and processing plant, with a total investment of 255 billion tenge, is ongoing.

The Akim also reported on the work to establish a special economic zone in the regional capital, where production projects worth 400 billion tenge and the creation of 2,500 new jobs are planned. Proposals for three major projects have been received.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was briefed on the development of the Alakol Lake tourist zone. This year, 15.4 billion tenge has been allocated for coastal infrastructure modernization, of which 11.6 billion tenge will be allocated from the Special State Fund for connecting power grids and reconstructing the airport terminal in Urzhar.

The President was presented with projects launched as part of the modernization of the engineering infrastructure. Specifically, he was briefed on the renovation of water supply, sewerage, and heating networks, the completion of a new bridge in Semey, and the development of housing construction and road infrastructure.

At the end of the meeting, the Head of State gave a number of specific instructions aimed at strengthening efforts to attract investment to the region, diversifying the economy, modernizing infrastructure, and improving the quality of life of the population. The President also emphasized the need to properly implement the "Abaiғa Qurmet" campaign.
