The head of state was briefed on the operational and financial performance of Air Astana, the leading aviation group in Central Asia and the Caucasus.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was informed that Air Astana plans to expand its fleet with next-generation Boeing 787 Dreamliners, with delivery expected in 2026–2027. The company has also placed orders for up to 50 Airbus A320neo and A321neo family aircraft, as well as up to 15 additional Boeing 787-9s, with deliveries scheduled through 2036.
Ibrahim Zhanlyel presented the company's long-term development strategy to the President, aimed at strengthening Kazakhstan's position as a regional aviation hub and expanding the group's international presence.
Air Astana plans to develop its route networks and multimodal transportation, as well as increase flight frequency. Particular attention will be paid to digitalization and the implementation of new technologies.
The head of state noted the importance of effectively implementing strategic goals such as increasing the fleet, expanding the route network, and strengthening transit potential. Specifically, he cited ensuring direct connections with the United States and Japan as a priority.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the regular, well-founded public criticism regarding flight delays and aircraft substitutions, and called for the development of air travel with countries interested in Kazakhstan for tourism.
