Ahead of the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs of the United Territories of the Turkic States, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with the heads of law enforcement agencies of the Turkic countries.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan Vilayat Eyvazov, Kyrgyzstan Ulan Niyazbekov, Turkey Mustafa Ciftchi, Uzbekistan Aziz Tashpulatov and Kazakhstan Yerzhan Sadenov.
The head of state noted that cooperation between the Turkic countries is strengthening year after year, as our countries are linked by a historical past, similar languages and traditions, and common interests.
"The Organization of Turkic States makes a significant contribution to strengthening our friendship. Kazakhstan prioritizes deepening comprehensive cooperation with this authoritative organization. The organization's member states are strengthening ties in various areas, including between their security agencies. From this perspective, the meeting of the interior ministers is of particular significance," the President said.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized contemporary threats and challenges resulting from large-scale changes in the world.
"The global situation has become unstable and unpredictable. Despite this, new opportunities are opening up for all countries. If we want to be among the prosperous nations that are at the forefront of progress, we must act decisively and quickly. To this end, Kazakhstan has implemented fundamental reforms. In March, the country held a national referendum. A new Constitution was adopted, which defines respect for the rights and freedoms of citizens and the maintenance of law and order as the inviolable principles of our state. In accordance with the Constitution, a new political position has been established in our country – Vice President. A new government has begun its work," the President of Kazakhstan noted.
The head of state also focused on changes in the structure of public administration and security.
"In particular, a new government body has been created—the Security Council Office—with responsibilities including a comprehensive analysis of global and national challenges and coordination of national security efforts. Furthermore, a supreme advisory body, the Khalyk Kenesi, will be formed soon. Thus, a profound overhaul of the public administration system is underway. These large-scale reforms will affect all areas, including law enforcement," the President emphasized.
At the end of the meeting, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev extended warm greetings to the leaders of the amalgamated territorial communities, calling for continued friendly relations. Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanychbek Omuraliev also addressed the event.
