Nazarbayev receives Delegation of Foreign Election Observers

    President Nursultan Nazarbayev has received a delegation of independent election observers -- Paul Wille, Emery de Montesquieu, Andrejs Klementjevs, Rolandas Paksas, Kazimir Prunskiene and Vladimir Socor; a presidential press statement said, Kazinform reports.
    The results of Kazakhstan's development for 20 years of independence, socio-economic and political reforms as well as the Majilis elections were on the agenda.
    Nazarbayev said the early parliamentary elections were connected with an intent to accelerate the establishment of a multi-party parliament.
    "Kazakhstan has the ability to quickly move towards democratization. All the conditions for an open and fair elections have been created. As a result of these elections, the parliament will have at least two parties," he stressed, according to Gazeta.kz.
    Jamestown Foundation's Senior Fellow Vladimir Socor noted that their group for the second time came to Kazakhstan to observe elections. "Preparatory work of the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan is impressive. All parties have equal access to media. Preparation for the elections is the basis for conducting good elections," he said.
    Paul Wille, honorary member of the Belgian Senate and honorary vice president of PACE, said he was impressed by Kazakhstan's economic growth. According to him, steps taken towards democratization will be a big step in building a democratic society, Gazeta.kz said.
