Kazakhstan to build school in Osh

    President Nursultan Nazarbayev met with Kyrgyzstan's Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov during his working visit to Astana on February 22.
    They discussed the current state of and future prospects for Kazakhstan-Kyrgyzstan relations in trade and investment, the culture and humanitarian sectors and also covered pressing bilateral cooperation issues and the international agenda.
    Nazarbayev congratulated Babanov on his appointment as prime minister and wished him success.
    “Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan are close countries with similar languages and culture, and we are ready to render all-round support to Kyrgyzstan,” Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
    President Nazarbayev also said Kazakhstan would build a new modern school in the Kyrgyz city of Osh to support the development of the southern regions of the neighboring country.
    “This is good for our economy and our mutual cooperation,” Babanov said.
    He also expressed gratitude to President Nazarbayev for his support on issues discussed during the meeting.
    “We have reached a series of agreements. In particular, in March, we will register and open the Kazakhstan Investment Fund in Kyrgyzstan. Kazakhstan is considering constructing the Almaty-Kemin electrical power line. This spring, Kyrgyzstan will start the construction of the Datka-Kemin electrica power line.
    “We welcome Kazakhstan’s participation in new projects for the construction of hydro power plants,” Kazakhstan's MFA said.
