President Nazarbayev names new national holiday

    President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has signed a new law commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, an official report states.
    According to the new legislation the 7^th of May has been designated the Defender of the Motherland Day, a new national holiday, Kazinform states.
    Official media have not indicated one way or another whether May 9 would continue to be celebrated, or if any day off from work would be provided.
