East Kazakhstan Oblast gets hail the size of potatoes

    The East Kazakhstan Oblast has suffered a hailstorm with individual hail stones the size of a potato, the Regional Emergency Department said.
    According to the authorities, the Kyzyl-Tesik Agricultural District of the Tarbagatay area in East Kazakhstan Oblast yesterday had hailstones with a diameter of 6-7 cm.
    The hail damaged dozens of cars and hundreds of homes. It smashed car windows, damaged roofs on houses.
    The storm’s impact on cattle was not specified.
    Around 2,000 people live in the district.
    According to Chief of the Department Bakytbek Nurgaliev, the smallest size of hail was about that of a chicken egg.
    The storm lasted for 20 minutes, CA-News wrote.
