President Nazarbayev has clarified Kazakhstan’s position on Syria, Iran, North Korea and Afghanistan, Tengrinews.kz reports from a meeting of CICA member-state Foreign Ministers.
The CICA session is taking place in Astana today.
“The building of a nuclear weapons free world should be our top priority for the future. We believe the complete liquidation of North Korea’s nuclear program should be discussed through hexalateral negotiations.
“Concerning Iran’s nuclear program, I would like to emphasize our position here once again: we believe a solution to this problem is possible only through diplomatic methods.
“This forum is taking place at the time when it is very relevant for the whole planet: a global transformation of world order has begun. The serious disturbances in the Middle East, North Africa are bright examples of this…,” he stressed.
“Kazakhstan has repeatedly declared its support of a peaceful settlement of the crisis situations in Syria. We are convinced that the future of this country is in the hands of the Syrian people alone, and this means that the sides should come to the negotiating table,” President of Kazakhstan said.
Speaking of a resolution to Afghanistan’s problems, Nazarbayev reminded of the aid that is being rendered by Kazakhstan to this county.
“We are educating Afghan young people in Kazakhstan’s universities, supplying humanitarian cargo, funding construction of socially-significant facilities, working on expansion of transport infrastructure for complete integration of Afghanistan into the regional transport system,” Nazarbayev said, according to www.tengrinews.kz.
