Nazarbayev orders creation of youth foundation

    President Nazarbayev on November 16 ordered the government to found a Youth Initiatives Foundation, Kazakhstan Today reported.
    During a speech at a conference of the Nur Otan Party’s youth wing -- Zhas Otan, Nazarbayev said all government agencies must work with young people. Kazakhstan, which has 11 large youth organizations, always has always made support for youth a priority, he said, pointing to government programs that send Kazakhstanis abroad to study, pay for their education, help them find jobs, etc.
    Providing housing and jobs for youth is also a priority, Nazarbayev claimed, adding that over seven years Kazakhstan has boosted annual financing for youth policy to KZT 12 billion (US $79.8m) in 2012.
    Kazakhstan needs young specialists with university diplomas as well as blue-collar workers, Nazarbayev added, according to Central Asia Online.
