Kazakhstan might require medical examination before hiring

18.04.2014
Majilis MP Nadezhda Petukhova has said a medical examination has been proposed in parliament as a necessary precondition for employment.
The requirement could be introduced as an amendment to the public health code, she said, Tengrinews reports.
"There is a proposed amendment to the public health code that says an employer has no right to hire a person who has not undergone a medical examination before ‘applying for the job’ (original – KNL). And then employers must make sure that all employees receive a baseline medical examination annually," Petukhova told Tengrinews on the sidelines of a joint meeting of the Nur Otan Party and the Majilis Socio-Cultural Development Committee.
The Cancer Care Development Program for 2012-2016 was another topic discussed during the session.
Kuanysh Nurgaziyev, director of the Almaty Institute of Radiology and Oncology, delivered a report and called for a way to motivate people to undergo checkups and screenings, Tengrinews reports.
