Survivor of plane crash taking first steps after accident

Assem Shayakhmetova, the lone survivor of the recent crash of an AN-2 aircraft in Kazakhstan, is now beginning to take her first steps after the accident.
Currently, she remains in the intensive care unit, but her doctors say she will be moved shortly to to a regular room. The doctors added that she will be required to go through a long course of rehabilitation.
She already has a Ilizarov frame installed, and it can be taken off in several months. She also must undergo several surgeries within a few days. She has two closed and one open fractures, a concussion and experienced shock.
Doctors plan to perform a skin transplant in the future.
Shayakhmetova was taken to the Zhambyl City Hospital after the crash of the AN-2 aircraft with 7 people aboard.
Shayakhmetova managed to crawl with broken legs out of the snow and over pieces of the plane to one of the bodies to find a cell phone and call rescue workers, Kazinform reports.
