Car explodes outside Defense Ministry

    A car has exploded near the Ministry of Defense in Astana, Tengrinews reports, citing a news statement from the ministry.
    "Today, on Dostyk Street in Astana a Chevrolet model vehicle exploded with a soldier from a military unit of the Ministry of Defense inside - Lt. Colonel Syzdykov Arman Kaydarovich, born in 1975. He died on the spot from his injuries. No one else was injured," a news statement from the Defense Ministry said.
    A special investigation group has been created. A criminal case has also been opened with relevant investigative measures being taken.
    "A suicide note was found at the scene and a terror attack has been ruled out. Details on the investigation of the incident will be reported later," the news statement said.
    According to witnesses Arman Syzdukov was holding something that resembled a pin ring from a hand grenade in his right had when he was found in the car, Tengrinews reports.
