International oil & gas exploration forum due in Astana

    Astana will host the first international forum on the geological exploration of oil and gas titled - Kazakhstan Geology Forum, Oil & Gas 2015, Baltabek Kuandikov, president of the Society of Petroleum Geologists of Kazakhstan has said.
    The forum will be held on March 12-13, 2015, he informed Trend.
    “The oil and gas geology topic will be discussed at such a high level for the first time since Kazakhstan gained independence,” said Kuandikov.
    He said this topic will be discussed with the participation of well-known geologists, geophysicists, specialists, academics, and representatives of leading foreign oil and gas companies and government bodies.
    Specialists have long ago stated that the era of easily-recoverable oil is over, Kuandikov stressed.
    He pointed out today, geological exploration work should be organized in accordance with different principles than was the case earlier.
    Kuandikov stressed the use of technological innovation in this regard, while expressing hope that the upcoming forum will be a full-fledged professional platform which will help the country’s oil and gas industry come to more effective decisions.
    Alongside the Society of Petroleum Geologists, the country’s Energy Ministry, Investment and Development Ministry, the KazEnergy Association and KazMunaiGas will organise the forum, according to Azernews.
