The crisis in relations between Ankara and Moscow has become a big problem for Astana, President Nursultan Nazarbayev said during talks with Prime Minister of Turkey, Ahmet Davutoglu on Saturday in Astana.
“The crisis in relations between Turkey and Russia has also become a big problem for us. Both countries are our important allies and partners,” Nazarbayev said.
The escalating geopolitical tension surrounding Turkey is having a big impact on Kazakhstan, he stressed.
The two sides discussed the main priorities for bilateral cooperation, including strengthening political dialogue and cultural exchanges, the development of ties in transportation, the energy sector, tourism, the construction of infrastructure, a presidential press release states.
Davutoglu pointed to the personal contribution of Nazarbayev toward strengthening bilateral ties.
“The relations between Kazakhstan and Turkey are developing intensely in all areas. We are implementing joint projects in transportation, the energy sector and other industries. If Turkey is the gate to Europe, then Kazakhstan is the gateway to Eurasia for Turkey,” Davutoglu added, according to Akipress.
