Nazarbayev criticized traffic jams and quality of roads in Astana

    President Nursultan Nazarbayev has criticized traffic jams in Astana and the quality of the capital’s roads, while speaking at a meeting on the development of the city and preparations for Expo-2017.
    Nazarbayev specified the Astana administration has not yet arranged automobile parking lots with electronic payment systems.
    The president also reported that 27% of the capital city's roads are not paved with asphalt.
    He stressed the budget allocates about 50 billion tenge annually for this purpose.
    Nazarbayev also harshly criticized the municipal administration for the lack of a storm sewage system.
    In turn, Deputy Astana Akim Kosman Aytmuhametov told the president that all these issues would be resolved before June 1.
    Aytmuhametov noted it was planned to construct 10 new wastewater treatment plants, 2 of which were introduced in 2015, and 3 will be launched this year, Kazinform reports.
