Over 580 ex-Kazakhstan citizens penalized for dual citizenship

    581 former citizens of Kazakhstan have been penalized for holding dual citizenship since the beginning of 2016.
    281 people who were no longer citizens were fined for using a Kazakh passport.
    294 people were penalized for failing to report the acquisition of foreign citizenship - 166 were fined and 128 extradited.
    The country’s constitution does not allow a Kazakhstan citizen to hold a foreign nationality.
    If a national of Kazakhstan acquires citizenship in another country, he is subject to lose his Kazakhstan nationality, Kazinform reports.
