In January-April 2019, damage from corruption crimes in Kazakhstan reached 7.4 billion tenge. According to legal statistics, the greatest harm fell on serious crimes for 7.1 billion tenge. For the first time in four months, especially grave crimes were revealed, the damage from which amounted to 26.6 million tenge. There were five of them. 276.8 million tenge fell on light crimes, 4.8 million tenge on moderate crimes.
As for the types of crime, the greatest harm was from abuse of official authority for 6.9 billion tenge. Bribes of 27 million tenge were received, and forgery of office reached 23 million tenge. The fraudsters deceived the state for 268.8 million tenge, and other people's property was appropriated and wasted for 150.8 million tenge. Money and property obtained by criminal means of 972.3 thousand tenge were legalised and laundered.
Meanwhile, 5.6 billion tenge was voluntarily repaid or withdrawn, and cases for 742.8 million tenge were reclassified to non-corruption.
Earlier, President Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev instructed to deal with corruption in public procurement. Just on the eve of the meeting with the heads of state bodies, the president called corruption a social disease and listed seven specific areas to combat it.
