Kazakh head of state chairs brainstorm on national economic development

A workshop on economic issues was held at the Akorda residence, chaired by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev that tallied up the country's socio-economic development over the 7 months of this year.

Presentations were made by Prime Minister Askar Mamin, the National Bank governor Yerbolat Dossayev, Minister of Labor and Social Protection Berdibek Saparbayev.

Support to domestic producers, containing of prices for socially important foods and tariffs, appointment of targeted social assistance, providing large families with accommodation, preparing for the heating season and the new school year were the topics covered at the workshop. The President noted the need to adopt new approaches to the national economy development with a view to giving it a serious impetus, which requires synergetic actions of the Government, the Presidential Administration and the expert community.

Tokayev pointed out that in addition to promptly solving everyday issues, it is necessary to determine the prospects for the medium-term development of the economy, given the unfavorable trends in international markets.

The people’s interests have to be prioritized at that to prevent a decline in their living standards and fulfill all the social commitments to the population, the President underscored.
