President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has arrived in Sochi for a working trip.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will attend a meeting of the Valdai International discussion club, said Berik Uali, spokesman for the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
“October 3, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, at the invitation of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, will take part in the plenary session of the 16th meeting of the Valdai International discussion club in Sochi. The event will be devoted to discussing the role of the East in the global political system.
During the discussion, the issues of the growing influence of the East (in the broad sense) on the modern geopolitical structure of the world, prospects for political and economic interaction in the Eurasian space, and problems of Middle East settlement will be considered.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, King of Jordan Abdullah II and President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte are expected to speak at the plenary session along with the leaders of Russia and Kazakhstan,” Berik Uali wrote on Facebook.
This year, more than 140 experts from 37 countries take part in the Valdai club.
On the margins of the event, the Kazakh President met with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
Vladimir Putin thanked Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the participation in the discussions.
«You have devoted many years of your career to diplomatic service. You are well experienced in this area. Your estimation of today’s situation at the international area, in the field of security and in creation of security conditions for Asia will be useful and interesting for us,» said Vladimir Putin.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has said it taking the floor at the plenary session on «World Order from the Viewpoint of the East» at the 16th annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club.
He noted that Kazakhstan had always been and remained supporter of preventive diplomacy and disarmament.
«The Conference on Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, which has already proved its relevance as the platform for the adoption of collective approaches to the solution of security problems, may play an important role. In my opinion, it is high time to begin debating the issue of transformation of this forum into an organization,» Tokayev said. The Head of State added that «building an effective architecture of security in the East is impossible without the interaction with the West.» Kazakhstan has repeatedly proposed to establish the interaction between the CICA and the OSCE.
«The fight with terrorism and extremism, organized crime, illegal migration and drug-trafficking can be the main component of our joint work in the region. Human capital development, implementation of the best practice in public administration sector, increasing innovative potential, effective and rational use of water resources could form our constructive agenda,» he noted. The President also highlighted that the achievement of the nuclear-weapon-free world remained a key priority of Kazakhstan’s foreign policy.
