Head of State held meeting with governors

At Akorda, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with governors of the regions and mayors of Nur-Sultan, Almaty and Shymkent.

He set a number of specific tasks for them to address urgent issues of regional development.

"The main task is to develop the country's economy, improve the quality of life of the population and maintain internal stability. Therefore, we all must work in the interests of the state," Tokayev said.

The coming year, he noted, will be full of socio-political events.

“They are not going to be a series of lavish celebrations, but a set of pragmatic measures aimed at promoting our ideological agenda and uniting Kazakhstanis. The Presidential Administration will bring concrete guidelines for their ideological content to the regions,” the President emphasized.

He focused on importance of the quality of the Year of Volunteers, reminding akims that it is not just another action, held at the level of the ministry or government, but a systematic activity involving the majority of citizens in all regions of the country where executive bodies should play a decisive role.

The governors were instructed to step up work with citizens' appeals and complaints, to provide effective outreach to target groups on the distribution of targeted social assistance in a new format, also on mandatory social health insurance. The President also demanded stable pricing of socially important goods for the population.

Importance of protection against emergency situations was pointed out, and the governors were instructed to focus on the safety of citizens and take steps to prevent accidents.

Afterwards, the President held separate meetings with a number of akims of regions and cities of republican status.
