The press service of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan published a statement by Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the incident in the village Masanchi, Zhambyl region.
"Dear Kazakhstanis, there were clashes and group fights between local residents in a number of settlements in the Kordai district of Zhambyl region last night. Provocateurs tried to take advantage of this situation. Unfortunately, there are dead and wounded. I express my sincere condolences to the families and friends of the dead citizens. I wish speedy recovery to the victims", - Tokayev addressed the population of the country.
As he noted, at present the situation is under the control of the police and the National Guard.
The Government Commission, together with the akim of the Zhambyl region should organize the funeral of the dead, assess the amount of damage and adopt a plan for restoring the property of the victims. The President instructed to provide the necessary assistance to the families of the dead and wounded.
"Kazakhstan People’s Assembly and authoritative people in the area should be involved in this work. Also, the Prosecutor General must take special control of the investigation of the events in the Kordai district and create an interdepartmental investigative and operational group for this. Those responsible should be strictly punished," added the head of state.
In addition, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev instructed the National Security Committee and the General Prosecutor's Office to carry out the necessary investigative measures and bring to justice those who call for ethnic hatred, spreading provocative rumors and misinformation.
Earlier a group fight in the village Masanchi, Kordai district took place. The conflict was localized by the police.
"The situation is under control. The Investigative Department launched a pre-trial investigation under Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Hooliganism". Instigators and participants in the conflict are being established," the Zhambyl region Police Department informed.
"Those guilty of disturbing public order will be held accountable," the President of Kazakhstan twitted.
