The head of state took part in an extraordinary session of the CSTO Collective Security Council. An extraordinary session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, convened at the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan in connection with the situation in our country, took place today via videoconferencing.
Along with Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the event was attended by Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers - Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov, as well as CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas.
The President of Kazakhstan informed the participants of the event about the current situation in the country and the measures taken to stabilize it. The head of state expressed gratitude to the CSTO partners for the assistance provided.
The President noted that the Organization will receive useful positive experience, the events will be analyzed and appropriate conclusions will be drawn, and adjustments will be made to regulatory documents.
“The CSTO has shown its relevance and effectiveness as an authoritative military-political organization. This is a really working mechanism to ensure the stability and security of our states,” said the Head of State.
During the summit, the leaders of the CSTO countries exchanged views on the situation in the Republic of Kazakhstan, expressed support for the actions of the leadership of our country, noted the importance of restoring stability and constitutional order. CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas reported on the progress of the adopted joint decisions.
The heads of state agreed to be in constant contact until the completion of the mission of the Collective Peacekeeping Forces of the CSTO in Kazakhstan.
Tokayev announced the imminent completion of the anti-terrorist operation in Kazakhstan."In the near future, the large-scale anti-terrorist operation will end, and with it the successful and effective mission of the CSTO contingent will end.
The main thing is to prevent the recurrence of such events in the future throughout the collective security space. I think this is our main task for the near future. Kazakhstan is ready for this work and will always support its allies," the Head of State said.
Tokayev added that Kazakhstan would provide evidence of aggression against the country. The head of state stressed that the UN Charter recognizes that each state has an inalienable right to individual or collective self-defense in the event of an armed attack from outside."In the near future, after the completion of the preliminary investigation, we will present to the world community additional evidence of the preparation of a terrorist aggression against our country. As we can see, some media and public institutions continue to inject false information based on fiction and unverified facts. I am sure that international organizations, including the UN, OSCE, SCO, CICA, as well as international humanitarian organizations, are interested in a full and impartial investigation of the illegal actions of terrorists, criminals, intruders," Tokayev said at the CSTO meeting.
He noted that there is no need to make hasty conclusions and thanked everyone who was confident from the very beginning that Kazakhstan would overcome this difficult stage in its modern history.
The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan noted that there are questions about the legitimacy of the introduction of the CSTO forces. This is happening, he stressed, due to the lack of reliable information and misunderstanding of the whole situation.
“In some cases, in the international community, including foreign media, there is an absolutely wrong interpretation of both the use of the CSTO forces and the situation in Kazakhstan.
Despite all the facts provided, some sources claim that the authorities in Kazakhstan are fighting against peaceful demonstrators. This is absolute misinformation. We have never used and will not use armed force against peaceful demonstrators.
Knowing this, the organizers of the attack on Kazakhstan arranged several waves of aggression.
At the first stage, as I said, peaceful protests took place. Then, in particular, political rallies were held in Almaty, and then armed militants rushed to the city from three directions, like a huge flock of hyenas.
At first, they pretended to be peaceful demonstrators, misled the forces of law and order and even the residents of the city, and then began what will probably go down in history as the “Almaty tragedy,” the Head of State said.
He recalled that the UN Charter recognizes for each state an inalienable right to individual or collective self-defense in the event of an armed attack.
In the near future, after the completion of the preliminary investigation, Kazakhstan will submit to the world community additional evidence of the preparation and conduct of terrorist aggression against our country.
