The head of state received the chairman of the Financial Monitoring Agency Zhanat Elimanov.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was presented with a report on the activities of the Agency for 7 months of the current year.
According to the data presented to the President, the investigation of 857 cases has been completed, and damages worth 88 billion tenge have been compensated. As part of the fight against the shadow economy, 33 organized criminal groups were liquidated. In the field of embezzlement of budgetary funds, 132 cases were registered, the amount of damage in which exceeded 57 billion tenge, of which 53 billion tenge was reimbursed.
Thanks to the measures taken jointly with the Government, the level of the shadow economy has been reduced from 23% to 19% over the past 3 years.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was informed about measures to protect private property and prevent raiding. There are currently 8 cases under investigation. In particular, a criminal group engaged in raider seizures of business was liquidated in Almaty, the damage from which amounted to over 18 billion tenge.
Along with this, the Agency revealed facts of unjustified increase in tariffs in the field of public utilities, in which 34 criminal cases were registered against 20 monopolists. Consumers were compensated for damage for 11.6 billion tenge in the form of tariff reduction.
The President was also informed about the fulfillment of his instructions to suppress the schemes of illegal export of fuel and lubricants. According to Zhanat Elimanov, 36 cases have been initiated in this area. In particular, attempts to export large sums of fuel and lubricants were suppressed in Pavlodar, West Kazakhstan and Turkestan regions.
Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev was informed about the launch of an investigation into unscrupulous suppliers who speculate on food prices.
The head of state was told about the reformatting of work on the early detection of financial pyramids. Over 3,000 sites with illegal content have been blocked. 64 cases were initiated, 7.8 billion tenge was seized.
Following the meeting, the President gave a number of instructions aimed at protecting business and the interests of citizens.
