The head of state listened to the reports of the Minister of Emergency Situations Yuri Ilyin and Akim of the Kostanay region Archimedes Mukhambetov on the measures taken to contain fires, evacuate citizens from settlements and provide support to the victims.
The President stressed that the situation in the region is under control. All necessary measures were taken to eliminate the natural disaster.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev urged to draw relevant lessons from what happened and gave the operational headquarters a number of specific instructions aimed at ensuring the smooth operation of all departments for the speedy complete elimination of fires.
The President noted the importance of providing support to people who had to leave their homes. The government and the akimat of Kostanay region were instructed to promptly ensure payments and compensation to affected citizens.
“All the victims receive the necessary assistance. They have been relocated to a safe place. The government, on my instructions, is engaged in resolving relevant issues. There should be no doubt that this assistance will be provided!” - said the head of state.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pointed out the importance of establishing the causes of the fire and learning the relevant lessons. According to him, a set of measures should be developed to restore the forest fund and ensure preventive work in order to prevent such crisis situations in the future.
The President stated the need to seriously strengthen the Ministry of Emergency Situations as an institution capable of solving social issues for employees of the department, including those related to the provision of housing and hostels, as well as improving the level of professional training of personnel.
The head of state also met with the personnel of the departments of the ministries of emergency situations, internal affairs and defense, as well as with volunteers involved in extinguishing fires.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed his gratitude to all participants in the liquidation of the emergency for their courage and noted that they would be nominated for awards and prizes.
