In exchange for “assistance in the fight against terrorism”, the United States intends to transfer to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan 46 military planes and helicopters flown to the Central Asian republics by Afghan air force pilots. According to observers, however, Washington is trying to deploy its military facilities in the region.
