The Presidents of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan held talks in an expanded format

At the end of the meeting in a narrow format, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Emomali Rahmon held talks with the participation of official delegations of the two states.

The presidents paid priority attention to strengthening trade and economic cooperation, including increasing mutual trade, developing cooperation in industry, agriculture, transport and digitalization.

“Kazakhstan treats the Tajik people with special warmth and pays special attention to strengthening our cooperation in the spirit of friendship, brotherhood and mutual support. Therefore, I attach great importance to your visit. We have just qualified your visit as a historic one. It brings cooperation between our countries to a new level. The Declaration on Allied Interaction is signed. I think that we have a lot of work ahead of us, since allied relations involve new strategic projects. We just talked about the need to prepare two or three anchor strategic projects and instructed governments to work on the implementation of these goals. I believe that in the very near future we will reach new heights in terms of bilateral cooperation. A trusting political dialogue has been established between our states at all levels. We interact within the framework of a number of international structures, ensuring the stable development and security of Central Asia. There is a solid contractual and legal base, which includes more than 100 contracts in various fields. Today, this list will be replenished with new important agreements,” the President of Kazakhstan noted.

According to him, cultural and humanitarian ties, which are traditionally a special area of Kazakh-Tajik relations, are being consistently strengthened.

“We talked about the development of cultural and humanitarian ties. This is a very important area of our cooperation. It is planned to open a monument to the famous scientist of the Middle Ages, philosopher and healer Abu Ali ibn Sina. All these achievements are perceived with great enthusiasm by the peoples of the two countries and serve as a vivid example of our close relations. We agreed to hold the Days of Tajik Culture in our country. Moreover, these days of culture will be accompanied by a demonstration of the achievements of Tajikistan in the field of agriculture. I believe this is a very important event,” said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The leader of Kazakhstan stressed that today's exchange of views was very useful and fruitful. The parties identified the main priorities and tasks for the further development of bilateral cooperation.

In turn, Emomali Rahmon expressed his gratitude to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the invitation to visit Astana and the traditional hospitality of the Kazakh people. He noted the fruitfulness of the negotiations in a narrow format and the importance of implementing joint projects.

“We attach priority importance to mutually beneficial cooperation with Kazakhstan. We are determined to continue to consistently develop all aspects of Tajik-Kazakh relations based on the principles of strategic partnership. Today we will adopt a historic document - the Declaration on Allied Cooperation, which will significantly strengthen the foundation of our bilateral ties. It is gratifying to note that over the three decades of diplomatic relations we have achieved notable success in all areas of cooperation. Maintaining this process, of course, contributes to the regular political dialogue at the highest level. During this time, the necessary mechanisms for interstate interaction and a solid legal framework have been created, which we will supplement today with a new package of documents. Trade and economic cooperation remains the most important component of our relations. Kazakhstan has been occupying leading positions in the structure of Tajikistan's foreign trade for many years now. During your official visit to Tajikistan, Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich, we agreed to increase the annual trade turnover to $2 billion in the near future. It is gratifying that this task is being systematically implemented. Last year, the trade turnover between our countries reached almost $1.5 billion and grew by more than 20%. Kazakhstan today ranks second among Tajikistan's trading partners,” said Emomali Rahmon. that the specified task is systematically implemented. Last year, the trade turnover between our countries reached almost $1.5 billion and grew by more than 20%. Kazakhstan today ranks second among Tajikistan's trading partners,” said Emomali Rahmon. that the specified task is systematically implemented. Last year, the trade turnover between our countries reached almost $1.5 billion and grew by more than 20%. Kazakhstan today ranks second among Tajikistan's trading partners,” said Emomali Rahmon.
