Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke at the second meeting of the National Kurultai “Adiletti Kazakhstan – Adal Azamat” in Turkestan.
The President noted the importance of the National Kurultai for the people of Kazakhstan.
"A national kurultai is not a solemn meeting at which grandiloquent speeches are made. Our ancestors convened kurultai at critical periods in history to discuss and make important decisions for the country," Tokayev began.
As you know, the country has experienced just such a critical period.
"Today's kurultai takes place after the tragedy, as a result of large-scale fires in the Abai region, our fellow citizens died. I repeat once again: we must learn from this tragedy and make specific decisions. The trials that have befallen us first of all test our unity. Such difficult moments show that the most important thing is mutual solidarity, support and responsibility," the head of state said.
