Kazakhstan was elected to the UNESCO World Heritage Committee for 2023-2027 during the 24th session of the General Assembly of States Parties to the Convention Concerning Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage.
A total of 118 states voted in favour of our country's candidature. Along with Kazakhstan, eight other new members were elected to the Committee: Jamaica, Kenya, Lebanon, Republic of Korea, Senegal, Türkiye, Ukraine and Viet Nam.
The Intergovernmental World Heritage Committee is one of UNESCO's most important and influential governing bodies. Members of the Committee make decisions on the inscription of cultural and natural sites to the World Heritage List. Kazakhstan has a proven experience working effectively in this body in 2013-2017, and is ready to make its worthy contribution to its further activities.
