
The head of state noted the need to keep the situation at Qarmet facilities under special control.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received the akim of the Karaganda region Ermaganbet Bulekpayev. The head of state heard a report on the results of the socio-economic development of the region for 2023.
The regional akim reported that over 11 months the volume of industrial production amounted to 3.1 trillion tenge. Investments in fixed assets increased by 16.3% and reached 727 billion tenge.
As Ermaganbet Bulekpayev reported, growth was ensured in the manufacturing industries: mechanical engineering - by 45%, light industry - by 23.9%, pharmaceuticals - by 20%. Increases are also seen in the paper, construction and iron and steel industries.
The small and medium-sized business sector employs 45% of the region’s active population; more than 100 thousand companies operate. For entrepreneurs, retail tax has been reduced from 4 to 2%. In 2024, it is planned to increase the share of SMEs in GRP from 19 to 25%.
According to the regional akim, the creation of more than 25 thousand jobs in all sectors of the economy made it possible to reduce the unemployment rate to 4.1% and poverty to 2.7%. Real incomes of the population increased by 4.7%.
The President was informed about the progress of the heating season, as well as the current situation in the system-forming enterprise Qarmet. Ermaganbet Bulekpayev spoke about the measures taken by the new investor to stabilize and increase production volumes, as well as plans to modernize and ensure the safety of the company’s workers.
In the social sphere, the construction of 92 rural healthcare facilities and the modernization of two inter-district hospitals have begun. Under the Comfortable School project, 10 facilities are being built with completion in 2024, this will provide 7,100 places for schoolchildren.
In addition, the akim reported on the state of the social sphere, the implementation of the “Auyl – El Besigi” and “Auyl Amanaty” projects.
Following the meeting, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev gave a number of instructions for further development of the region and improving the well-being of residents. The head of state also noted the need to keep the situation at Qarmet facilities under special control.
