President receives Financial Police Chief

    Head of state Nursultan Nazarbayev has received the Chairman of the Agency for the Fight against Economic Crimes and Corruption Kairat Kozhamzharov, Kazinform has learned from a presidential press release.
    Mr. Kozhamzharov reported to the president on the performance of the first stage of the Action Plan for the 2006-2010 State Program on Combating Corruption and the beginning of the second stage.
    The president stressed the struggle against corruption was one of the state’s major challenges, stating the Financial Police should catch bribe-takers, in spite of the positions they hold. The Prosecutor’s Office and National Security Committee should help the agency, he said.
    The agency was ordered to continue monitoring the illegal distribution of licenses for the development of deposits and fields in Kazakhstan, take control over taxation payments from the sale of alcohol products and control the disbursement of funds allocated for the execution of the government anti-crisis program for 2009-2011, according to Kazinform.
