Deputy Environmental Ministers placed under Arrest

    The Financial Police have arrested Deputy Environment Ministers Alzhan Braliev and Zeinulla Sarsenbayev, along with other individuals, including a director at the Mercury Plus LLP for abuse of office and embezzlement of budget funds in the amount of KZT 522.8 million, Kazinform cited a press release from the FSA as reporting.
    A court authorized the arrest of Vice Minister Braliev on February 28 and the warrant for Ms Sarsenbayev was issued on March 3.
    A Department Director at the Ministry Tatyana Savitskaya and the head of Mercury Plus LLP Victor Lays were indicted in absentia for embezzlement, according to Kazinform.
