KUAT Employees threaten to block a Street and hold Hunger Strike in Almaty, but cancel Plans after failing to obtain Permits

    KUAT Corporation employees have threatened to block a central street in Almaty city and go on a hunger strike in protest of unpaid wages, KTK television reports.
    "About 100 employees from KUAT Corporation planned to block traffic along Dostyk Street in Almaty. They had requested permits from the city Office of the Public Prosecutor. They failed to receive support," the channel reports.
    According to KTK, the employees were last paid an amount of KZT 15 thousand, two years ago. The company has promised to pay the remaining money shortly. However, KUAT management said they can not state precisely when this would be possible, according to Kazakhstan Today.
