Laboratory testing on children who had recently returned to Astana from London has confirmed three cases of A/H1N1 influenza, Director of the Department for State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance, Zhandarbek Bekshin reported.
"We have examined six people; three of them are confirmed as infected. Two school students have been hospitalized with medium severity illness. The other four are receiving out-patient treatment," Bekshin said.
As was reported previously, 38 children had returned from language training courses in London yesterday. Upon arrival in Astana, six of them fell sick. A preliminary analysis showed the presence of the swine flu virus.
The children were sent to a special laboratory for the National Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance for further examination, according to Kazinform.
