Foreign banks will not control Kazakhstan’s financial institutions, President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev stated during a meeting with the management of two banks on Tuesday, Kazakhstan Today reports citing a presidential press release.
"I heard reports on the first half of the year in terms of the state of economic affairs and the country's financial system. The government, the management of the Halyk Bank, Kazkommertsbank, the National Bank and other financial structures gave reports. Trust in the Kazakhstani banking system is growing today. Talk of our banks going bankrupt, and of a foreign bank arriving, which will get all the funds are absolutely false…," Nazarbayev said, according to Kazakhstan Today.
