Kazakhstan's banks should stick exclusively to banking operations, President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev said in Ak Orda on Friday, Kazakhstan Today reports.
"First – the banks should only be engaged in banking activity. Therefore, any other hidden, affiliated banking structures, whether an insurance business, or other industrial facilities or construction companies should be banned," Nazarbayev said.
He also told the government "to take the bank's margins under its control, so there is no “super-income” as was the case earlier," according to Kazakhstan Today.
