Nazarbayev calls Slovakia an Important European Union Partner

    President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev has called Slovakia an important and promising partner in the European Union. The president made the comments today during a meeting with President of Slovakia, Ivan Gashparovich, at Ak Orda, Kazakhstan Today reports.
    "We came to a common opinion regarding the huge potential of our cooperation. Kazakhstan considers Slovakia a major promising partner in the European Union," Nazarbayev said.
    The president noted that agreements reached in 2007 during his visit to the capital of Slovakia, “have created favorable conditions for strengthening mutual relations between our economies and our policy."
    He stressed that despite the world financial crisis, trade volume between the two nations continues to grow.
    "Last year, goods trade increased by 10% to $1 billion 200 million," he noted, according to Kazakhstan Today.
