Halyk Bank announces Intent to return KZT60 Billion to Government

Halyk Bank has announced its intention to return 60 billion tenge to the government in funds received as part of the bailout campaign for the financial sector.
Halyk is also now in talks on the return of its shares bought out by Samruk-Kazyna Fund for its support.
Umut Shayakhmetova, CEO at Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan JSC said,
“Halyk bank is ready to return a portion of the funds allocated as assistance. I think this will be one of the first positive examples where a bank used the assets. This has helped us a lot, especially during the liquidity crisis last year; and it helped our borrowers a great deal. These assets will be returned to the national welfare fund today,” she said, according to Caspionet.
