WKO Saiga died of Pasteurellosis

According to preliminary data, the pasteurellosis bacterial infection caused the mass death of saiga in the West Kazakhstan Oblast, Vice President of State Inspectorate of the Agrarian and Industrial Complex Committee, Ahmetzhan Sultanov stated at a briefing in the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan Today reports.
Authorities have counted 3,271 dead saiga so far. The West Kazakhstan Oblast experts are now carrying out epidemiological processes, are gathering carcasses, and vaccinating domestic animals.
"Samples of soil and water from reservoirs have been delivered to the regional laboratory," Sultanov said, according to Kazakhstan Today.
