Kazakhstan to eliminate Associated Gas Burning by End 2011

Kazakhstan will put a stop to the flaring of associated gas by the end of 2011, Vice President of the Committee for Ecological Regulation and Control under the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Adletbek Bekeev stated during a seminar on associated gas utilization, Kazakhstan Today reports.
"Many oil companies intend to significantly reduce gas burning by the end of 2010. The ministry believes all large oil companies should execute their obligations in 2011, which is to only burn gas for technological needs," he specified.
Vice Minister of Environmental Protection of Kazakhstan, Mazhit Turmagambetov, explained to journalists following the seminar, "if companies do not meet their obligations, their licenses will be withdrawn,” according to Kazakhstan Today.
